So, to catch y'all up on our summer, I am going to backtrack a bit and do a couple of posts to fill y'all in on the last couple of months. Perhaps going back over the summer can explain to me how it all passed so fast! I blinked, and it is almost October!!
One way I passed my days was waging war on these guys....
GRASSHOPPERS. The bane of my existence.
I had never harbored any real hatred for grasshoppers. As far as bugs go, they could probably be considered towards the cuter/ less harmless end of the spectrum. They do not sting or bite (like the mosquitoes and bees we also fought this summer) and they are not as nasty as, say, flies and their small white gag-tastic offspring (both of which I have had rather unpleasant encounters with of late as well.) BUT the grasshoppers TOOK OVER our house this summer. For a while, I took pictures of some of the many places I found them. I became overwhelmed, however, as I could not have my camera in hand 24 hours a day....and I needed both my hands for battle.
You may ask what the problem is with these cute little fellas. Well, I will tell ya. They poop. A LOT. They poop a lot. Everywhere. All the time. They leave charming little poop pellets ALL over my house. You would not know that something so relatively small could make so much....stuff. It was nasty. Aggravating is not the word. (I refrained from photographing those generous little gifts..I saw enough to last forever.) This all attributed to my fragile state of sanity. I called the grasshoppers a bad word all summer that would insinuate they were made without any kind of legitimate relationship between their grasshopper parents. Which would probably be accurate. And, upon discovery of a new enemy soldier in our camp, I could often be heard yelling/ growling GRASSHOOOOOOOOPPPPPPER in a frequency that rumbled so low that it probably rattled windowpanes and scared small children for miles around.
So, that was that.
We have also, as always, spent a lot of time playing around on the 4 wheeler exploring beaches, backroads, and villages (don't worry, we are careful and safe!!!!) Here are a few random snapshots of our adventures.
Many more to come later. Be back soon!!!!
